New data published by Mintel’s cosmetic research division has revealed that, across Europe,
more than 2,260 ethical cosmetics and skincare products were launched in 2007 alone.
.
Together, the UK and France accounted for nearly three quarters – 74 per cent – of all ethical beauty launches last year.
.
Nica Lewis, head consultant of Mintel Beauty and Personal Care, said: “Although organic has proved popular in the beauty industry, the current trend for ethical centres around the use of Fair Trade ingredients and products having recycled and recyclable packaging. All natural will also continue to appeal.”
